How do i transfer everything from my old mac to my new mac computer?

Okay so i got a new mac and i need to transfer everything from my old one onto the new mac.
is there a way that doesnt include usb’s that will transfer everything including; music, applications, photos, videos, and everything else to the new mac?

thanks :)

If both Macs have FireWire, or are connected to the same Ethernet or wireless network, then you can use Migration Assistant. Apple designed this utility in OS X to do precisely what you want. If you are not able to connect the two Macs together, either using Firewire or a LAN, then you have to resort to copying files across using a hard disc or memory stick, which is much harder because you need to know which files to copy and which to not copy, and where they should go. Migration Assistant worked great for me when I upgraded from a G4 iMac to an Intel Mac last year.

you can save it at an online storage but you will have to pay for that. You can also burn your stuff on a DVD but you need a DVD burner. other than that the USB is good for transferring and making a clone of the hard drive.

  2. i think people usually use a harddrive.
if you are using the same motem while using (both) computers, i think this would work as well.
